Watch out... there's a fairy about!
Across Sydney in September 2010, The Coke Machine Fairy was out and about leaving goodies for foursquare followers in Coke machines across the city. The brief was to create a mobile campaign that would allow Coca-Cola Australia to learn about the growing mobile landscape. During planning, Foursquare was growing in popularity in Australia (a little behind the rest of the world!) and was the perfect fit for a mobile only campaign. Twitter was also utilised to increase the reach.

Foursquare followers were given clues to where the Fairy was headed each day. They then had to be the first to the chosen Coke machine and press the button to dispense the winning bottle and prize.

This was Australia’s first consumer FourSquare promotion and pushed Coke to be the second most popular brand on FourSquare in Australia within 2 weeks. The campaign was also covered favourably by Mashable.
